A carpet that is the right size can instantly enhance the sense of space and hierarchy; the wrong size, however, will make the entire decor look disorganized!
Here is the golden rule for carpet sizes in mainstream global spaces (suitable for living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, and entryways), easy to follow:
Living Room (The focal point of home decor, the carpet should cover the main activity area)
Small living room (≤20㎡): 160×230 cm / 180×250 cm → Cover the coffee table area, with the front legs of the sofa on the carpet (this makes the space look more spacious).
Medium/Large living room (>20㎡): 200×300 cm / 240×340 cm → Cover the entire sofa + coffee table area, with all the sofa legs on the carpet (creating a stable, atmospheric look and a strong sense of enclosure).
Open-plan living room (living room + dining room): Choose a large-area carpet or two matching smaller carpets (unify the style, divide the functional zones).
Bedroom (Focus on comfort, the carpet should fit the bedside area)
Single bed (90/120 cm): 80×150 cm / 100×200 cm → Place beside the bed (step on it when getting out of bed, warm and soft).
Double bed (150/180 cm): 160×230 cm / 200×300 cm → Place at the foot of the bed + beside the bed (the carpet should cover about 1/3 of the bed's length, making the entire room feel more coordinated).
Tip: Bedroom carpets should ideally have a medium to high gram weight (for a soft underfoot feel), and avoid overly large sizes (to prevent a cramped feeling).
Dining Room (Focus on practicality, the carpet should cover the dining table + chair area)
4-seat dining table: 140×200 cm → When chairs are pulled out, all chair legs should remain on the carpet (to avoid scratching the floor and slipping).
6/8-seat dining table: 160×240 cm / 200×300 cm → The same principle applies: ensure that chairs can be pulled out freely without leaving the carpet.
Tip: For dining rooms, choose stain-resistant materials (polyester/cotton); lighter colors are better (easier to spot stains and clean).
Entryway/Hallway (Focus on durability, the carpet should fit the width of the space)
Entryway: 60×90 cm / 80×120 cm → Place at the door to cover the shoe-changing area (removes dust from shoes, protects the indoor floor).
Hallway (narrow, long space): Customize the size based on length/width (the carpet width should be about 2/3 of the hallway width, and the length should be slightly shorter than the hallway, making the space appear longer).
Custom Service: We offer custom sizes and shapes for all carpets (square, round, irregular), suitable for any special spaces (bay windows, staircases, corners). Just let us know your space measurements!
