Special Space Sizing Guide: Beyond the Basics

Some spaces require extra attention-here' s how to size carpets for unique areas:

Bay Windows

Bay windows are cozy reading nooks-choose a carpet that fits the seating area. Measure the width and depth of the bay window (including the bench if present). Opt for a round or oval carpet (e.g., 120cm diameter) for a soft, inviting look, or a rectangular carpet (e.g., 100×150cm) if the space is more angular. Ensure the carpet is large enough to cover the entire seating area, with 10-15cm extra on all sides for comfort.

Home Offices

Home office carpets should reduce noise and add comfort underfoot. For a desk with a chair, choose a carpet that extends 50-70cm beyond the desk on all sides-this ensures the chair doesn' t slip off the carpet when rolled. If your office has a bookshelf or filing cabinet, include that in the carpet coverage if it' s part of the main workspace. Standard sizes: 160×230cm (small offices) or 200×300cm (large offices).

Patios/Outdoor Spaces

Outdoor carpets need to be weather-resistant and properly sized. Measure the entire patio or seating area (e.g., 3m × 4m). Choose a carpet that's slightly smaller than the space (leave 20-30cm gaps on all sides) to prevent water pooling. For outdoor dining areas, follow the same rule as indoor dining rooms-ensure chairs stay on the carpet when pulled out. Opt for durable materials like polypropylene or outdoor-rated jute.
